Growth Management
Over the past five years St. Lucie County has experienced unprecedented growth, with the City of Port St. Lucie named the fastest growing city in the nation. Balancing the development and preservation of St. Lucie County represents the challenge that we all face today. To ensure future development, St. Lucie County planning professionals, elected officials, developers and the public must be aware and work together to adequately address the issues that will affect the environment and our quality of life in years to come.
The Growth Management extension program’s goal is to develop innovative solutions to complex growth related issues by involving the community early in the planning process and to improve public knowledge and support for planned growth. These goals are addressed through the combination of educational programming, seminars, newsletters, the latest University of Florida research, and personalized extension agent attention. My goal is to enhance the social capital of St. Lucie County so that residents will be able to effectively collaborate with local and county governments in the implementation of beneficial growth concepts and patterns in their community.
